'Blighty' in case you were curious……?

'The Blighty-Boys' where did that come from?   We have been asked a few times now about the name of our blog.   The word (noun) 'blighty' is an informal or slang word used for Britain or England.  It was first used in the Boer War but became commonly used by soldiers in the first and second world wars when referring to their homeland (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blighty).

Here are some of the earliest followers of  The Blighty-Boys 'blog' back in the day when it was only produced in hard copy!
