3 States In A Day - Rolling towards the "Big Easy"

We off to New Orleans today, riding from Foley in Alabama, on through Mississippi and finally into Louisiana.  Here is our route some 185 miles

It's really cold here this morning in Foley, which is rare for this time of year. Today's high will be 62 degrees, but on Monday it was 85 degrees! We will be using the 'thermals' for sure! A large cold-front came down from the North, along with a lot of rain which we ran into yesterday on the ride here.  In fact yesterday was a full day of wearing our waterproofs - not something we thought we would be doing whilst in the south!

Here's lunch on the road.  We stopped for some gas and 'fuelled' ourselves up on what we call back home 'itchy-pig' (i.e. Port Scratchings).  Unfortunately Jon broke a tooth eating this 'granite' like snack!  Being hardcore he had no intention of visiting a dentist.

I am looking forward to New Orleans, but with a little apprehension which I think comes from  the historic mystic of the city and of those terrible images all those years ago following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  Jon's been there though and says tonight will change all that!

    1. Hi Tony, I keep nagging him, but he's either too tired or too drunk at the end of the day!

You may think it's cold where you are but much warmer than up here. Want to trade places ? I've never been to New Orleans so waiting for your impressions and photos

    1. It's a crazy place Bob - I wouldn't like to do it sober, it would be way too scary!

  3. It's a good thing you started your trip in the south - snowed up north yesterday. Also looking forward to New Orleans pics.

    1. Hi Canajun, we are glad too we started in the south, but the weather we are told is still unnaturally cold for this time of year. But where we live these temperatures are called 'summer!'
