Our Ride Today - Forks "Twilight Saga" Country

The weather is overcast today here in Astoria but at least it's not raining - yet!  It should be an exciting ride up to the Olympic Peninsula and Forks - the town that was the inspiration for the block-buster hollywood movies - "The Twilight Saga".  Tomorrow we plan to visit the beaches at La Push and the town of Port Angeles before leaving America on Thursday via ferry just briefly, whilst we have a long weekend in Vancouver BC.

He is the view from our hotel overlooking the Columbia River which we shall be riding across on our route this morning into the State of Washington the 15th State visited by 'The Blighty-Boys' so far.

We had a wonderful dinner on the river last night at a restaurant called the 'Bridgewater Bistro' and well worth a visit if you are ever in this part of the world

Some repairs are being made to the bridge - let's hope they can withstand the weight of the 'Hogs!'

At Forks turn left towards La Push and you should see the sign for Rialto Beach. My favourite beach on the WA coast. This is considered the last virgin coastline in North America.

If you have time you should take Hwy 112 to Neah Bay. It is the most Westernly point of the contiguous United States. There is a viewpoint at Cape Flattery where you have a stunning view of the sea caves and rugged coastline

  2. Thanks Bob - we will do this. There are some incredible beaches aren't there as you travel up the Oregon and Washington Coastline.
