It's a 'Wing' Thing…if we had to explain you wouldn't understand

After a surprising evening, in a small town called Geneva-on-the-Lake by the shores of Lake Erie (there was a raucous 'Rib-Fest' event happening plus some very cool live bands playing, and bikers everywhere)  we ended up staying the night in a cheap but not so cheerful motel!

The next day we headed out very early for Buffalo, New York State for a couple of days to visit Niagara Falls and Frank & Teressa Bellissimo's famous 'Anchor Bar' (http://www.anchorbar.com).

If you don't know by now Jon and I just love buffalo wings.  We can literally say we have eaten them across all of America and know good ones from bad and exceptional ones from very good.  To visit the restaurant where they were invented in 1964 was going to be special.

It  was great to see and visit this family owned restaurant that was still thriving in business after opening way back in1935

It took another 29 years before Teressa came up with idea of serving chicken wings with her now world-wide famous sauce

A funny cartoon sign behind the bar

And here they are - 10 of their 'hot' wings.  The sauce was amazing and the wings crispy and the blue-cheese dip homemade and not out of a bottle.  For my money they topped the 'league-table' of best wings we have had on our adventure.  Prior to these the leader had been the wings from the 'Riverhouse Bar & Grill' back in Big Sky, Montana.

  2. They were 'splenditious' Richard and well worth the 11,500 miles riding to taste them!
